Gorgeous beaches loved that you could walk along the cliffs safely and easily for a 1.5 mile walk each direction right from town. Town looks a bit in disrepair at times. Our accommodation was great with wonderful service including the restaurant below it. Parking was easy.

The beach is gorgeous, as are the cliff walks and views.
The beach is gorgeous, as are the cliff walks and views. Restaurants were fine.
Unfortunately we couldn't find any postcards, couldn't rent any bicycles (nearest bike hire was miles away), and the 'tourist office ' was not only shut down but in a very sad state of disrepair.
Also, no one seemed to know where Charlotte Bronte honeymooned!! We found it easily though (there's a plaque).

Just a few words.
Just a few words.
It is a magic place, You can only appreciate this going there and see for yourself. Ahh, by the way, there is a fish and chips there in the heart of the town, try no to avoid that place , it has the best fresh fish and chips
Nolans is the name, also you may feel like to taste a fresh-made kebab , exactly there on the main street you can find a very nice Kebaberia.
Lovely bed & breakfast in a quiet location in the countryside on top of a hill as the name implies. Very friendly host who made sure we had everything we needed. You could tell that the owners take pride in the house.
We had two rooms and one of them had a magnificent panoramic view of the valley and ocean. Rooms were small but very nice. Good shower.
Best Irish breakfast we have had on our Ireland trip so far! Cereal and other options were available as well. Tea and instant coffee available all day. Highly recommended!
The room was small, quiet and comfortable. The staff were relaxed, efficient and very helpful. No forced 'greetings' here. Instead the owners (separately) dropped by to chat and discuss our reactions to the place. Nothing like a chain or resort hotel.Bed & facilities were all fine. The food was extraordinary. The fish dinner dishes of the highest level. The scampi was the best I've ever eaten. The cod and halibut - each a fish of the day - were exquisitely cooked. I will go back for the food whenever I can.
The place was nice and clean, there's a view on the beach. Close walk to the cliffs (about 1km?)and there's also pamphlets for you to check out with nearby food places and things to do. We were out of season so cruises were not available (best to book after March to go on cruises if that's what you want to do) but we've enjoyed the stay nevertheless. Place is pet friendly and quiet, my rabbit absolutely adored it and had happy zoomies and binkies. Very good contact with host, absolutely lovely person.
Staying at the Sycamore Lodge only added to our road trip of the west coast of Ireland. The hosts were/are so friendly and have a passion for ensuring we had a comfortable and welcoming stay. John oversees that guests are made to feel welcome and valued and took great care and attention to enhance our stay. Breakfast was fabulous and a feast for the eyes offering a great selection to set us up for the next leg of our tour. We would have no hesitation in returning to Sycamore Lodge.
Location was perfect, 2 minutes to beach and great location to tour west Clare, Loop head, Doonbeg, Kilrush and more.
Property was very spacious, very comfortable furnishings and cooking facilities were excellent. Cleanliness was excellent and management were very helpful with any requests.
we booked three rooms for for three couples, every one of us agreed it was the best hotel that we stayed in .
magie at reception was fantastic and so helpful, the food was so fresh and tasty .we had a really nice evening meal, two minute to the town center, and two minute walk to the beach.
The Pods and facilities were so clean and well kept. Well done to the hosts who were so welcoming but also let you enjoy your peace. The local knowledge they shared made it a perfect trip to Clare and I can't wait to stay and explore dome more
Thanks again for a wonderful stay
A lovely little gem! We had a great room, superb location, and the best breakfast I've had during my 2 week trip around Ireland.
Hotel was clean, there was plenty of hot water for shower.
The staff were amazing!
Great location, right in the centre of the the town and a few steps from the beach beach but still a nice quiet hotel.
Lovley traditional feel to the bar and lounge area.
Lovley staff
Great food
I would highly recommend this accommodation, perfect location, spotlessly clean, owners very friendly and informative. And the breakfast was super, I’d recommend the omelette 😀
The most amazing I ever met in any hotel.. We luckily got a ground floor room as I had my 95 year old mother with me .. That was thanks to the lovely receptionist..
