Keel is a beautiful place on Achill Island with amazing beaches stunning views peace & tranquility. The people are very hospitable & friendly. Lovely bar resturant Amesthyst where we dined and had the most delicious meal & drinks. Plenty coffee food trucks and lovely cafe called the Beehive. These were all within walking distance of where we stayed. You can easily cycle or drive around Keel & Achill Island. If you like sheep & baby lambs you won’t be dissapointed they are all over the island 🙂Keem beach is a few miles from Keel and we’ll worth a visit. It’s a little piece of heaven with amazing views aqua sea and golden sand.

The scenery was unbelievably beautiful.
The scenery was unbelievably beautiful. I felt as though I were on another planet. The free range sheep are everywhere, so drive slowly. They ran right up to my car. There were several viewing points and benches. I wish I had planned more time during nicer weather, the hiking would be fabulous.

We were beyond impressed with the place. The owners met us on arrival and complied 100% with covid regulations
We were shown to our suite The place was impeccable,
Breakfast next morning was above 5 star.. Service was efficient and personal to a most impressive level.
We were served tea and coffee in the garden after breakfast, which was most appreciated, giving us relaxation time on fabulous sun loungers. We had an evening meal , which was un-describable The food was superb, cooked to perfection.
We had an amazing stay

Keel itself is only a small village without a real centre, but the surrounding countryside is wonderful, dramatic in all weather and a fascinating history. Within a few miles, there are wonderful beeches, hill walking and coffee stops. Surfers have easy access to supervised waters.
We loved that the house was on the less busy, more remote end of Achill but also still close to beautiful beaches. We could walk to the end of the road and were greeted by outstanding views of the wild Atlantic! The house had plenty of room for our group of 7 (3 adults, 4 kids) and was clean. Keel beach and Keem beach are fun, clean beaches a short drive away. Keel beach has surfing lessons available which our kids loved! Also, at Keel beach there are some food trucks with crepes, smoothies, ice cream ,etc!
It would be difficult not to give this a positive rating. It was great value for money.
The house itself was spotless, including toilet facilities.
Catherine had lovely personalised welcome surprises for us on arrival.
The location was perfect as everything was within walking distance within Keel.
Would come back and stay again.
Some would say it us dated but it was very welcoming for a little cottage in a small beautiful place.
Thank you for hosting us and our dog!
You're at the end of the island, perched up on the hill, looking out your window across Keel and the Atlantic ocean, and right next to Keem Bay - the most beautiful place on the island. The house is really well equipped, with lots of kids books and a games room upstairs. The beds were very comfortable, and the sheets really clean. The house was in great condition overall! With everything we could need.
I'm sure there are a number of good options on Achill but clearly Stella Maris is one of the best. Accommodations are excellent: large well-outfitted rooms with very nice bathrooms ensuite. Everything sparkly clean. It's right on the beach, with its own private gate. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. And the breakfast, a combination of menu and continental, deserves a special mention.
Fantastic B&B in a stunning location. Our room was clean and comfortable with beautiful views of Keel Beach. Due to the weather we asked to change our check in time from evening to late afternoon and this was accommodated no problem. Would definately return and recommend. The B&B is a short walk from cafe, pub, restaurant and of course the beach.
Wow. It really is all about the view here. The bedroom window is like a beautiful picture frame capturing a super view of Keel beach and the ocean beyond. Stunning.
Great welcome too here and you settle in immediately.
Loved the breakfast and the location is ideal for your explorations of Achill
There was a wide range of options for breakfast and the quality was exceptional. We also had dinner there and were very impressed with the quality. All the rooms have a different theme and the view from our room was excellent. Set in a very quiet location overlooking Keel village and the beach.
The location was absolutely ideal, Catherine was a fantastic host. 100% would stay here again and recommend to anyone thinking about traveling to Achill!
The cottage itself is lovely, plenty of room and very clean.
Walking distance from the beach with plenty of beach supplies
We felt at home the minute we arrived, the hosts were very accommodating allowing us to dry wet gear on their clothes line, breakfast bars in the room that kept us going until lunch. Great location in between Keel and Keem beaches.
Lovely friendly hotel in great location, just across the road from the beautiful Trawmore beach at Keel. The facilities are excellent, views amazing & the staff very friendly & helpful. The food is excellent. We had a lovely time.
I must say it was an absolute delight to stay in Ferndale. The breakfast was so delicious and versatile.Delicious!!
Huge thanks to John and Alex for their kindness and hospitality . Highly recommend Ferndale to anyone.
Location, location, location - the B&B is just a few short steps from the beautiful Keel Beach. The staff were welcoming and the breakfast was very good. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
We loved everything! Great location, great food, and great hosts! John and Alex made our stay more than a mere experience, our visit will always be a cherished memory. This is why we travel.
I chose Achill house because it was walking distance to both the beach and restaurants. We had a great view of the ocean from our room and breakfast was delicious and filling.
