Beautiful city with a whole pile of history and things to see. There is fantastic forest walks, amazing caves and fantastic ruins and burial sites. Very well maintained and clean and very easy to get around. Food in the Crowes Nest was fantastic and the staff were really friendly. All the people of Cong were very polite and accommodating.

We were on a flying visit, but I know the village as I grew up nearby. Unless the weather is appalling, it us a great place to go. Lovely quaint village with lots of walks, caves, boat trips & eateries. Ideal for families and couples & those with wee dogs.

There were many interesting sets from The Quiet Man movie, as a well as a Quiet Man museum with costumes and props from the movie. There were coffee shops, restaurants and pubs, and a variety of clothing and souvenir shops. Getting around Cong was very easy. Parking in town was a little difficult, but there are two car parks, one just as you enter town and one near the church.

If at all possible --- go to Ireland's School of Falconry!!
If at all possible --- go to Ireland's School of Falconry!! Yvonne and Tommy were excellent! It was an experience of a lifetime. The grounds of Ashford Castle are gorgeous!! And it was a great surprise to see the lodge used for Danagher's house as we were walking through the gardens to the School of Falconry. The Monk's fishing cabin is cool.
Of course, The Quiet Man sites were fun. Aran Knitwear is a lovely store. I wish they'd have a few Clancy Brothers-type cables, but the modern, sleeker ones are pretty.
Pat Cohan's was delicious for dinner and had a luxury menu at good prices. Nice specialty cocktails, too.
We ate at Danagher's pub for lunch and the beef stew was huge and tasty (if a little salty). It reminded me of my uncle's rec room in the 60s.
The Irish History bookstore (Rare & Recent Books) was worth visiting. Extensive collection, modern titles, great old books, books in Irish, children's books, too. The prices were good.
Everyone we met in Cong was friendly and had good info!

We loved Cong.
We loved Cong. It was a beautiful town and area, with a gorgeous ruined abbey, forest walks, caves, an impressive manor house, quaint stores... The food was excellent at the Crow's Nest, and we LOVED the live music by Stephen and Trish. The salmon at Lydon's Lodge was incredible. The porridge at the Puddleducks Cafe, delicious. We HIGHLY recommend the Irish History Bookshop on Main Street. The owner, Robert, a historian himself, was able to provide us with so much information about the area's archaeological history that interested us. From Cong we explored the Nymphsfield Standing Stones (hard to find, but super-cool), the Ballymacgibbon Cairn, Moyne Castle, and Annaghkeen Castle. Cong is also the perfect base for day-trips to the Connemara Penninsula, and to the Aran Islands.
The location is fantastic. Sights are spectacular and grounds are wonderful.
The evening meal was good however I felt 2 choices of oysters limited other options on the starters. The main menu was good although again too many fish options.
The breakfast was different to other hotels which is wonderful and for the most the staff were so good and helpful.
I went on the Hawking walk and to be honest I would drive there weekly for that alone...
The bus and driver, Brian, were very good.
The Manor had a connection with a cab company - who came to Galway and picked us up at the train station to take us to the Michaeleen's Manor. He also took us the next day into the town of Cong for the evening. He suggested a wonderful restaurant for lamb. Excellent! Next time he took us to a castle in Ashford.
The next day he took us back to the train station to get back to Dublin. WONDERFUL SERVICEE!!
Beautiful comfortable property
Warm welcome from Sean.
Excellent car parking space. Bedroom warm spacious airy and so comfortable.
Perfect haven after a long days driving. Few mins from Cong village and Ashford Castle. Mary is a wonderful host and makes guests feel welcome and at ease.
10/10 for this excellent property in Co Mayo.
I had the best experience with one of the hotel staff ? Celeste! She was absolutely awesome and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was spectacular ! One in a million ! She was the absolute best. It was my birthday when we stayed there and she made sure we had the best stay ever! Loved it all!
A wonderful location just next to Ireland's most beautiful lake and one of its prettiest villages. Our hosts were so attentive - with locally sourced produce and free range eggs from their farm! We are looking forward to our next stay - we just need to find an excuse!
Nice breezy hostel with a large kitchen and appliances for self catering, spacious bathroom and showers, pleasant sitting room. Close to magnificent castle grounds, lake, village. Great value, especially considering June prices in Ireland. A true holiday feel.
The hosts were so welcoming and helpful. The location was wonderful. Great area to explore the lakes with plenty of options for fishing, boating and swimming. The village of Cong was beautiful. Will definitely return
The location of the property was excellent for walking around Cong. Fabulous woodland walk and exploring the ancient abbey nearby. Extensive choice of resturants and pubs and small independant shops.
Great location, Cong is a beautiful town, staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful, breakfast was amazing, tasty and hot, could have stayed there just for the food. Right in the centre of the town.
Beautiful country area, stones throw from Cong village.
Spacious ensuite bedroom with views onto the garden.
Lovely outdoor seating area.
Breakfast was above and beyond.
Hostess was very friendly.
Breakfast was very tasty and the host Rachael was very friendly and informative in regards to our questions. I would recommend this Band B to anyone considering staying in Cong.
Not to much to like it’s very basic 1 star the pictures on Booking.com make it look good but the location to Cong was perfect and the amazing Ashford Castle is next door
Location is ideal, overlooking the river and a stone's throw from Cong Abbey. Friendly service and Martha accommodated our every need. Excellent breakfast.
