The unit was bright and modern. The pictures online don’t do it justice. Lots of beds. Tankless hot water for shower. Unit came with a washer and dryer, which is a real bonus. The washer had been disconnected while renovations were done, but not hooked up again. Ena, our contact, went above and beyond, washing our clothes in her own washing machine. The place is in walking distance of two local towns, which contain coffee shop, restauarant, pharmacy, pub. Lovely walking trails nearby. Kkitchen was well supplied with utensils. Ena left us a few snacks and milk to start us off. There is parking for one car, although you could manage two small cars.

Had a really comfortable stay here in the cottage. Such a lovely quiet area. The cottage was lovely. No TV or wifi but that didn't matter. It was just what we wanted. Lovely towns and villages short car journey away. There were lovely walks and scenic views of the valleys and waterfalls. Really had a nice time.

This turned out to be a great place to stay for the night. In my planning for our trip I was looking for a spot that was roughly half way between Donegal and Dublin that had an interesting place to stay. The Keepers Arms filled that bill. The room was pleasant, the beds comfortable, and good water pressure in the shower. The building is located near the main crossroads of the village (not that there was much traffic, but there were quite a few tractors passing through) but the noise of the traffic disappeared once we closed the windows for the night. We had chosen in advance to have dinner in the pub that evening since there was no other option nearby and the menu on line looked pretty good. When we were seated (we were the only diners at first, later to be joined by a local couple and a gentleman who came in for a pint) we were told that the kitchen was out of steak and fish. That left cheese burgers and chips for us, which were pretty good.
Towards the end of our meal we met Sheila, the owner of the place. She was very welcoming and suggested that we take advantage of the two more hours of daylight by taking a drive out to the nearby sights. So we took the short drive to Tullydermot Falls which had recently had its parking area and walkway to the falls updated. The falls are likely very impressive when there was water flowing but there had been a lack of rain but it was still a pretty spot. We then drove up to the Altachullion Viewpoint, a spot at the top of a hill that had a parking area about the size of half a football pitch. It was very apparent that the nearby flock of sheep had spent time enjoying the views for one really had to watch their step in the parking lot.
In the morning we were served a wonderful, full Irish breakfast cooked to order by Sheila. It is obvious that Sheila has a deep love for her place and for showing her guests the warm hospitality that the Irish are known for.

It was a home from home experience. Spotlessly clean . Home baked scones with homemade jam await us and fresh milk in the fridge . Fran definitely went the extra mile . The best accommodation we have encountered. It is within walking distance of village . Great chipper/ curry takeaway , only downfall it doesn’t take card payment. Ideal location to hike and explore the
Cavan / Fermanagh region

McNean House and Restaurant is a must visit as the food, drink, staff and ambiance is second to none. I also highly recommend Olive Grove which is a bed and breakfast & restaurant. There are plenty of interesting places to visit nearby.

The town is very poor, you would have to drive to go to a more scenic location But we were there to go to the restaurant, which met all of our expectations, but the town itself is quite miserable .
