Trim has a great castle, used in the filming of Braveheart.
Trim has a great castle, used in the filming of Braveheart. The guided tour of the keep is quite good. There is a friendly family of donkeys in a pasture just down the road from the castle and you are allowed to feed them (a sign with foods that are allowed is in the pasture). Trim is a great base for exploring Bru na Boinne, Mellifont Abbey, the Hill of Tara and other areas of interest. I actually;lly would have stayed 3-4 nights instead of 2, but we had reservations in a different area.

Trim castle is awesome!
Trim castle is awesome! The tour provides historical, anecdotal and architectural context for the structure, and the grounds have detailed markers and schematics to help you understand what you're seeing. We needed more time to explore the grounds, the ruined Abbey, and surrounding areas. Dinner at the Stock House restaurant provided a good steak and interesting decor to explore. Definitely a stop for a day or two on our next trip to Ireland.

We only stayed in Trim one night.
We only stayed in Trim one night. We went to the castle which is in pretty good shape. Entry is free but you can pay for a guided tour of the Keep which you should do.
We ate dinner at the Trim Castle Hotel in the Bailey Brasserie. It is a little expensive but we thought the meal was very good. The host was friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that our waiter was very busy and not very attentive but this would not keep me from returning.

Came to the hotel for a wedding.
Came to the hotel for a wedding. Lovely scenery of the castle from the rooftop and some rooms. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. My room was nice and had everything I needed and the breakfast was very nice. I paid €190 for 1 night stay in a double room which I thought was too expensive for a Monday night but overall I enjoyed my stay.

Trim is a beautiful town, with plenty to interest both adults and children. There are plenty of independent cafes and restaurants, making a lovely change from high streets with global chains.
Lovely walks along the river and around the Norman castle, the focal point of the town.
Cecilia is a great host and she welcomed us to her beautiful home, made us feel like staying with friends. She gave us a lot of information about the area, had maps ready. The room is very spacious, the bed is actually wide, which is not too common in Ireland, the bathroom has a shower and a bath tube, and is also very spacious. The area is very beautiful and quiet and it is only a short drive to the beautiful town of Trim. We had a great stay with Cecilia and will sure come back.
We attended a wedding in Trim Castle Hotel and found Bounty Bar accommodation (a five minute walk from Trim Castle) to be the best value available in the area. From the warm welcome we received from the staff and locals, to the lovely, chilled out, simple vibe within the bar and accommodation, I couldn't fault it. Amazingly good value and we'd highly recommend to anyone attending a wedding in Trim and looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay.
The location is in Trim which is a nice town, with pleasant walks along the river Boyne.
We found our room to be very comfortable with a good ensuite.
The breakfasts are very good, cereals, yoghurt, croissants, toast, full Irish or in my case vegetarian, hot drinks and juice.
All in all we found our stay pleasant with welcoming hosts and I would definitely recommend Caravogue House to family or friends visiting Co. Meath.
This is a significant, professional golf hotel that doubles as a general visitor hotel. It is very nicely designed and decorated, and it has two large and attractive dining rooms, one formal and one sporty. We only saw the course but didn't play, yet it looked stunning. Food was very good. The spa looked great but was fully booked - need to book ahead of time!
Hosts and staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They were fantastic, so kind and helpful. The room was large and bed comfy. The bathroom was small but had the best shower of our trip so far in Ireland. Breakfast was great and plenty of it. Location is very walkable to town center and an easy drive to various sites in the Boyle Valley.
The location is perfect for a visit to Newgrange, and access to the Dublin airport. Mary did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, and provided many tips on places to see in the area. We are very appreciative of her efforts to help us meet some tight deadlines, and make our last 2 nights in Ireland an excellent end to our 2 week trip.
Nice place for our first night in Ireland. Right off the main road as we came into town, so was easy access. The town is small so everything was within walking distance. Restaurant was OK, we had to hunt down servers whenever we wanted to order or pay. I have no doubt they were short staffed like the rest of the world right now.
I booked 2 rooms for the same price - one with double bed one with 2 single beds - the double room was really good and we got the Kennedy Suite with whirlpool which was really nice, the huge bed with a lo of pillows was super comfortable
only 10 minute walk from Trim castle
Great value.
Self catering house clean, well maintained and well equipped.
Staff very helpful.
Got to use the swimming pool, sauna and steam room which was part of the stay.
Will be returning and Would highly recommend knightsbrook hotel courtyard accomodation.
Brogans is a very friendly , homely little hotel with lots of character, very central to Trim town. Great evening entertainment Would recommend staying here- their evening meals are excellent. Shout out to the staff behind the bar - very friendly and helpful,
freedom with patio areas, lovely garden location. Excellent towels and comfortable beds. remote location so felt like a holiday however very easy drive to Trim. Room only booking however we were left bread/jam/eggs/milk etc which was a real bonus.
The breakfast was amazing, fresh and delicious. The room was extremely comfortable with a beautiful view. The host was extremely gracious, friendly and helpful. The location, close to Trim, was perfect.
We booked 2 cottages for our family of 10 children and 8 adults traveling from the USA. We raised our children in Trim and wanted to show our young grandchildren where their dad''s grew up
Highfield House is beautiful, warm and welcoming. Lovely room. Great location for a stay over in Trim, short walk to all amenities. Would definitely recommend.
The building and gardens are beautiful and rooms tastefully decorated to match the period. Very comfortable accommodations very close to town and Trim Castle.
