Trim has a great castle, used in the filming of Braveheart.
Trim has a great castle, used in the filming of Braveheart. The guided tour of the keep is quite good. There is a friendly family of donkeys in a pasture just down the road from the castle and you are allowed to feed them (a sign with foods that are allowed is in the pasture). Trim is a great base for exploring Bru na Boinne, Mellifont Abbey, the Hill of Tara and other areas of interest. I actually;lly would have stayed 3-4 nights instead of 2, but we had reservations in a different area.

Trim castle is awesome!
Trim castle is awesome! The tour provides historical, anecdotal and architectural context for the structure, and the grounds have detailed markers and schematics to help you understand what you're seeing. We needed more time to explore the grounds, the ruined Abbey, and surrounding areas. Dinner at the Stock House restaurant provided a good steak and interesting decor to explore. Definitely a stop for a day or two on our next trip to Ireland.

We only stayed in Trim one night.
We only stayed in Trim one night. We went to the castle which is in pretty good shape. Entry is free but you can pay for a guided tour of the Keep which you should do.
We ate dinner at the Trim Castle Hotel in the Bailey Brasserie. It is a little expensive but we thought the meal was very good. The host was friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that our waiter was very busy and not very attentive but this would not keep me from returning.

Came to the hotel for a wedding.
Came to the hotel for a wedding. Lovely scenery of the castle from the rooftop and some rooms. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. My room was nice and had everything I needed and the breakfast was very nice. I paid €190 for 1 night stay in a double room which I thought was too expensive for a Monday night but overall I enjoyed my stay.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The room was lovely. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel, in fact we are already planning to return and take my mother along with us this time.

Trim is a beautiful town, with plenty to interest both adults and children. There are plenty of independent cafes and restaurants, making a lovely change from high streets with global chains.
Lovely walks along the river and around the Norman castle, the focal point of the town.
They had a single room available on short notice after I had to unexpectedly stay overnight in the area. The shower was awesome; the bed was very comfortable. My Irish Fry breakfast was exceptional, and it was included in the price. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Trim has been on my bucket list. I didn't have enough time to explore the area due to my schedule. I will be back to do that in August, and I plan to stay here again. I was able to borrow a phone charger, too.
Hard to imagine a better place to stay in Trim!
One of the joys of travel is meeting people from other parts of the world and you will not meet nicer people than Sandy, the owner and Stephanie, the caretaker. Sandy and her husband have beautifully restored this historic building and it was a pleasure to stay here. It will surely be one of the highlights of our visit to Ireland. Breakfast was fantastic too.
I would highly recommend The Trim Rectory!
The whole weekend stay was excellent. Location a walk from other Trim sites like the castle! The house was a lovely break and across from the hotel so that kids could safely go to and from the facilities. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had family staying in rooms in the hotel too but personally, with children, the house was the better option for versatility. The golf was a great addition. Many thanks for a great weekend
Pam and Morris had a beautiful home, it was exceptional! Everything was spotless. The beds were so comfortable and luxurious. We sat out on the patio after a long day and it was so refreshing. Pam provided every thing you could need, we had water and chocolate on our bedside table. And she prepared a lovely breakfast! Pam and Morris were so warm and welcoming. This is the place to stay if you are in the Trim area!
What a wonderful place to spend our first night in Ireland. Pam welcomed us into her beautiful home, situated in the quiet and peaceful farming countryside outside Trim. Her warm hospitality and personal touches (chocolates on our pillows) made it a perfect place to recover after a long flight. We ended our stay with a delicious farm breakfast and look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
Our room was spotless and big. Bed was extremely comfortable. We had booked to have breakfast which was really delicious with a good variety of options and freshly cooked. Rob and Caroline run a lovely hotel and are very welcoming. There is a coffee machine to make whatever coffee you want, whenever you want it, as well as tea/coffee in the room.
A very nice overnight stay in Trim.
Mark behind the bar was a gentleman made myself and 2 brothers feel welcome and home straight away lovely pints of Guinness open fire going on a baltic evening the rooms were also lovely and warm rads on full beds comfy and clean will stay again next time visit Trim for a Wedding
The usual factors were all very good to excellent; in addition, this place is right next to Trim Castle, of which there are wonderful views from the rooftop bar area (the bar however was not open while we were there). The castle is lit up at night, which is cool.
We loved this spot. After a long flight from Australia we wanted to get out of Dublin but not drive to far. The little village of Trim (5min away) was a perfect welcome to Ireland. This property was quiet, very comfortable and welcoming.
Everything about this stay in this B&B was perfect. The B&B is a slight walk (across a beautiful field) from the historic parts of Trim, but that did not bother us. For some, that may be a problem.
The location was very close to the city center, Trim Castle and the self guided city tour.
Clean residence, very nice host and close to good restaurants.
