I love Donegal and would never leave without a visit to the...
I love Donegal and would never leave without a visit to the old workhouse for a coffee, a browse in the craft shop and maybe pick up a used book or two. A staff member recommended a lovely walk this time around as well. Another favourite is a visit to Ards Friary, lovely coffee there too after a walk along the sea and a visit to the beautiful little beach, perfect for the grand-children so will have to let them into the secret. Ostan Loch Altan in Gortahork is a great wee place to eat and very reasonably priced too.

Very busy this time due to heatwave & the fact people had...
Very busy this time due to heatwave & the fact people had missed out on earlier holidays this year. The beaches in Co Donegal are fabulous. We ate in “ The Cove”, Arnold’s hotel & The Shannon hotel Yes, easy to get round Dunfanaghy - just a long Main Street. We would avoid week- ends too busy!

Ended up staying an extra night! Close to the town but when you leave the town you benefit from escaping the noise and traffic to tranquil surroundings. Lovely rooms and great facilities. Made to feel very welcome and a relaxed atmosphere. Well organised and breakfast was fantastic too.

Very beautiful location ... relaxing with wonderful serene views of Sheephaven bay ... an excellent location for our Irish Linen luxury Heritage designs photoshoot & introduction to our new Collections ... Weather was a little disappointing on the second day but still enjoyed exploring the village of Dunfanaghy .. beautiful Irish Craft shop on Main Street ... also enjoyed Oyster’s restaurant and bar for a light lunch and glass of wine. Definitely planning to return to the beautiful Shandon Hotel very soon for a relaxing break ...and to walk and paint the stunning sea views in oils ... first class and excellent hair salon and spa ... Thank you very much for a very comfortable trip.

Superb food (fish & chips for me) on site. The owner was really friendly and mingled with guests at the outside eatery making sure everyone was happy. The double room I booked was adequate but nothing special. Breakfast was cancelled a couple of days before but I was refunded 15 euro immediately. I could also have had a voucher for Batch cafe nearby. I did end up going there and that was exceptional.

Kitchen has every type of utensil you could think of. Beds were very comfortable, house was very clean. Anne was great to communicate with as well, Very prompt and helpful! The house itself is set about 8 minutes drive from Dunfanaghy, We liked that we were a bit outside of the town, you would definitely not get the views or peace and quiet if you were in the centre. We Would love to come back!

The Mill has a lovely, mellow feel and is calm. The bedroom was very comfortable and I liked that there was water in the bedroom, as well as homemade oatie biscuits. The breakfast buffet was carefully displayed with a good range of options, overnight oats, smoothies etc. and there was superb range of cooked breakfast options. It is a beautiful and extremely comfortable property, with lovely gardens and a stunning view over the lake. Our hostess made us feel very welcome and shared good advice about nearby points of interest. We enjoyed excellent breakfasts in the warm, sunny dining room. There is a comfortable sitting room and also a conservatory where guests can relax, read a book, or share a glass of wine without feeling crowded in together.
