Dundalk in County Louth, the wee county, provided an incredible outpouring of creativity to celebrate Brigid1500. The Northern Lights Light Show in Market Square, the murals and storefronts painted with signs of Spring and Brigid, the cultural production at An Tain Theatre and the County Museum. We were there for 4 days and we made the Proper Cafe "our cafe". The staff were very welcoming and remembered us and the food was great! We also took a bus to Carlingford and enjoyed a short hike and great views of Carlingford Lough. Also, the home of Thomas Darcy McGee, and Father of Canadian Confederation.

    At St.

At St. Patrics Day there were no free hotel in good price in Dublin. This choice for accomodation was the best choice, only 1 hour from Dublin by train, and found a very nice pansion with polite people.

The Imperial Hotel is a lovely comfortable hotel with very friendly helpful staff. The location of the hotel is very central and the town centre and shopping are just a short stroll from the door. My husband enjoyed a very pleasant evening at the races in Ireland's only all weather racecourse, just a short Taxi ride away, while I browsed and shopped in the nearby Shopping Centre. We dined in the hotel, where the food was excellent. We had a lovely restful two day break, and we plan to return there in the future.

People were very friendly, a lot of greetings while out walking the street on a wet morning, likewise staff in shops all very welcoming, the town could do more to promote it's history and some beautiful surroundings within close proximity, unfortunately there are a lot of derelict or dilapidated buildings around the town. The town also could do with a better range of dining experiences The Spotted Dog was excellent but a few more restaurants at that end of the market would be very welcome.

    Dundalk has lots of potential.

Dundalk has lots of potential. Nicely laid out town and looking very well Unfortunately the people of Dundalk don't know the meaning of good customer service, very cold and unwelcoming. We didn't meet a single friendly face in the bars or resteraunts, customer service was NIL!

We stayed at the Carrickdale Hotel.

We stayed at the Carrickdale Hotel. We drove to Newry and did some shopping. Then we went to stunning Carlingford for lunch and more shopping! Back to Blackrock in Dundalk for fish and chips from Roma on the promenade and ice cream at storm in a teacup. Dundalk has beautiful scenic drives and greenway walks and we loved exploring around it.

Beautiful spacious, well equipped and comfortable apartments. We rented a 2 bed and a 3 bed for a family gathering. They were so close to the hotel for golf and on the right road out to Carlingford. Bedroom sizes were great and beds were so comfortable. Kitchen and living area had everything we needed. Outside was so safe as it had electric gates. Being dog friendly was such a bonus as our pups are part of our family. Sharon was an amazing host and given us all the information needed. We would definitely come back again!

Lovely combination of olde worldiness and modern comfort. The hotel is an old, ivy-covered brick house with modern additions. The grounds are gorgeous. There's a rose garden and some picturesque outbuildings, and you can walk along the golf course to see the historic Proleek Dolmen. Room and bed were both very comfortable. Pool is lovely. Bar and restaurant areas are spacious and relaxing, lots of very pleasant places to sit and chat or read. I travelled solo and felt comfortable and unconspicuous.

We stayed here last year and came back. It offers comfortable accommodation just up the road from Dundalk railway station, across the road from the cheapest petrol station in the area and an easy walk to the centre of town. In spite of being on a fairly busy road, it is set back enough to be very quiet. A substantial Edwardian three story semi, with many original features and sympathetically decorated. Very comfortable and the cooked breakfast dishes are excellent.

The location is not in the town centre but it was in the same area as Costa, Supervalu and a pharmacy, which is what you would need just outside your hotel. It is a 5 minute drive to some fastfood chains and shopping areas, and close to the sea with great views in just 5 mins. The location is ideal in my opinion, it’s away from the busy traffic of the town centre but everything is almost at your doorstep.

I stayed at the Glen Gat House in 2018 and was excited to go back this week. One of the best bed and breakfasts I've ever stayed at. It's a charming spacious house with good sized rooms, extremely clean, comfortable and a staff that is both friendly and welcoming. And a wonderful full Irish breakfast included in the beautiful dining room. Highly recommended to anyone traveling in the area!

We loved this historical and comfortable guest house. Our room had a little table and two chairs, which is always nice. The staff were very welcoming and the breakfast options were great. The location was perfect, an easy walk into the Market Square. We went to Dundalk for Brigid1500 Celebrations and the city was alight with events to mark this significant event.

This is an outstanding b&b. Very friendly hosts, who offered excellent food suggestions, and a considerate staff. The place is immaculately clean and a comfy place to relax after a day of travel. And the best breakfast in the morning. The best in Ireland, after three weeks of travel. They have operated this b&b for decades and the positives show.

This spot provided the perfect stay for us on our first couple nights in Ireland. It was incredibly cozy, well-kept, fantastic location to venture into smaller towns during the day/evening while having a nice and quiet respite for the night. Walking up to the sunrise and sheep sounds was the perfect idyllic Irish experience.

Carrickdale Hotel and Spa is a beautiful hotel. The gardens are stunning and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. My friend and I got a massage at the Serenity Spa which was so relaxing. We also enjoyed two meals at the Secret Garden restaurant. I would highly recommend this hotel and spa to others.
