I did not spend any time in Blackwater. As I was travelling by car I was able to visit the local coastline - a long sea strand backed by sand dunes. Having visited Curracloe the previous year, it was good to explore Northwards. The beach with direct access to Blackwater is uninspiring. It has good parking facilities but the stream there serves as an outfall from the local treatment works. There is access to a much better beach to the South - but with space for only about six vehicles to park. That beach is excellent for sea-bathing,

Blackwater is a small town surrounded by working farms on the southeast coast of Ireland just a few miles from a wide long white sand beach made for walking. Lovely narrow lanes dotted with traditional homes and large modern homes. The dining options in Blackwater and Curracloe are very limited. Recommend driving south 20 minutes to Wexford.
