Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.
More legends envelop the Ring of Kerry – a scenic drive starting from Killarney and supposedly the last place to spot a leprechaun. Gushing Torc waterfall is just one of its fantastic sights.
In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.
Accommodation in Killarney on Booking.com includes 5-star lakeside hotels, B&Bs near the train station and town centre guest houses. All with that trademark Irish hospitality.
Beautiful enchanting clean community. All the magic of fairytale Ireland. 1.5 days to squeeze everything in. Great shopping. Loved Muckross Craft store, dining, National Park, gift stores, quality of food, Ross Castle a must tour. Walked past swampy bogs, and downtown streets. As horse owners we were uncomfortable with the horse drawn carriages. Need at least 1 month to see and do! Great gateway to Ring of Kerry, Conor Pass, Kenmare. Loved the expansive mountains and sheep grazing everywhere in the open wild countryside. Off to Dingle......

Hotel beautiful perfect.
Hotel beautiful perfect. My wife who always traveled with me died earlier this year of MND Disease and I was visiting all the places we you to stay on our trips. As I have already said the parking ticket I got for parking in what I was led to believe was a disabled zone has put a very bad taste in my mouth. I would have to think seriously about visiting Killarney again.

There is so much to do in and around Killarney that your stay will not be long enough ! While some Hotels and Rental properties would seem to be somewhat expensive you can also find some which are really good value and of a good standard if you do the research !

We were very disappointed that the Killarney National Park visitor center and Ross Castle weren’t open and especially that there was no acknowledgement of that on their website. That was our main reason to visit Killarney. Understandable about due to weather, but the visitor center was due to renovations.

We had a great time.
We had a great time. Went to a Fureys concert, did the Ring of Kerry, visited the Tralee museum, had a super Indian meal, the Guinness was super. It's my 8th visit to Killarney. I'm finding the prices are getting much higher in town.
The place is conveniently located as a base for exploring Killarney National Park and the Ring of Kerry. The room is ok, nothing special, perfectly functional but without charm.. The hotel is located on a main road, so not much of a view and some noise in the morning. In terms of price, it is expensive in comparison with similar establishments elsewhere in Ireland and the deal we got did not include breakfast. So overall, a perfectly fine place but not one of the best we stayed in during a nine-day trip in Ireland.
This was the 2nd time we stayed in the Fairview and I can't fault it in anyway. The location is excellent, just 2 mins walk to the town centre, our room was perfect for 3, a double and a single. We were leaving early on the Saturday before breakfast and we were accommodated as were others, we were provided with a continental breakfast which was very tasty. On Sunday we had a taste of what we missed the day before as Breakfast is excellent. A very nice hotel and the staff are very friendly they always had a smile.
We brought my in laws to Ireland as a Christmas present and all was well until my father in laws health took a bad turn and he was having a difficult time walking. The Brehon staff quickly acquired a wheel chair that we were given free use of for several days. His ability to walk has returned for the present and we were very lucky to have such accommodating staff and such a magnificent hotel. The spa was absolutely magnificent and the food and service at the bar was stellar.
Getting slightly used to very high prices in Ireland this hotel surprised me with price to value ratio, especially when I factor in their incredible breakfast
Breakfast included in price
Room was very comfortable and location good for a drive around the Ring of Kerry
Hidden gem - the place has the best restaurant in the area. Definitely a real dinner pleasure
Great hotel, especially love the outdoor seating area with heaters, blankets and hot water bottles, perfect for colder evenings. Staff was amazing and very helpful, location is perfect, close not only to town centre and train station, but Killarney National Park and Ross Castle. We had a lovely weekend and can’t wait to go back!
This is our favorite B and B in Ireland! Kathleen and her staff are wonderful! The location is perfect and the parking lot is a great convenience. Great location - easy walk wherever we want to go. Been there several times and will be back! The breakfast is fantastic! Best scones anywhere!
The staff at the Birches is amazing! They were so welcoming and helpful and went out of their way to make our staff enjoyable. This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Ireland. Thank you so much!
Staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly. The room we stayed in was lovely. The hotel was perfectly situated between the national park and Killarney town centre. Would definitely stay here again!
The Yew Tree Restaurant was excellent. Staff were very friendly and on top of their game. The proximity to the National Park and Muckross House while away from the town centre was a real plus.
Location is great: a few steps to the National Park and the town centre. Perfectly working wi-fi. Spacious parking.
Extremely clean and well maintained. Sheila's scones are the best!
Lovely hotel in Killarney town centre. Great value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely book when returning to Killarney.
