Listowel is a lovely town with great outdoor recreational facilities and a strong history of celebrating literature and writers. It is a good base from high to explore northwest Kerry, from the Dingle Peninsula to Ballybunion and Foynes, where transatlantic flying boats used to land. For those unused to Irish roads and streets there are the challenges of driving on the left hand side and some tight turns and through ways, but that’s no different than driving anywhere in Ireland. I like the fact that it is not a town that gets inundated with tourists. The food at the Listowel Arms was excellent, as is the Horseshoe Bar. Woulfe’ s bookshop is worth a browse and the risk of leaving with several purchases. The greenway is a fabulous community resource.

Very well situated town to explore south and west Ireland.
Very well situated town to explore south and west Ireland. It has lots of facilities and pubs with live music. And a nice river to walk along it. It is surrounded by countryside. It's a clean place too. There's a very nice hotel, the only one in the area where you can eat and have a drink.
You can easily walk around the town. And the castle! Although quite destroyed, still good to visit and hear about its history.

Listowel is a great town plenty of Bars And Restaurants, locals are very friendly both in bars and restaurants and the shops we visited, listowel also has great history with john B kean being its most famous icon
Listowel is a charming place and this flat is the perfect place to stay. Walking distance to everything, and there are really nice pubs in the area, really close to the SuperValu that closes pretty late, and very comfy for a group of 4 adults. Our host was also really nice, she has super clear communication and was always very warm and friendly. If we come back to Listowel we'll come back here for sure.
Noreen was a great host. We arrived for a wedding, and she dropped us to the hotel for wedding, which was great! Breakfast in the morning was excellent - such a range of options available. The rooms were modern, spacious and extremely clean, bright and airy. The price is great also! Overall, I would definitely recommend and, if I am in Listowel again, will book in here for sure next time.
Great location - a few mins stroll into the centre of town. Property seemed to be recently decorated - it was spotless and very modern. Very comfortable, great value, great breakfast and Noreen was a pleasure to deal with. She went out of her way to make our visit a great experience. Next time I'm in Listowel I won't even bother looking at other options. Plenty of parking outside too.
Received a warm greeting on arrival, and was given great advice about what to expect, as I was there for the Listowel Races. They even sacrificed one of their day passes to the races for me, as they thought here was a chance I wouldn't get one, as I was arriving late. I was blown away by the kindness of this gesture. It was very central. Nice easy-going place.
Breakfast was terrific! Cooked to order every morning. Don't miss the warm scones. Behan's is a great location in the center of town. We had dinner their twice and everything was fresh, hot and served well. It was a great location to visit many of the sights in Southern Ireland. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and certainly recommend them to all.
The room and bathroom were quite big, all you need is there. Liked the mirrors in the room, enough space in the shower (compared to other places in Ireland). Loved the hostess, very open, just you need to ask if you want something. Got amazing coffee in my thermo cup :) and breakfast was served as in a restaurant, very welcoming experience!
The house was amazing and had everything we needed, the only thing that did not make it feel like home was a tv in the bedroom. But that is the American in us. LOL!!!! The views were beautiful and it was nice and quiet. Had no problem sleeping. I would highly recommend Derry house do anyone I know going to Listowel.
Joan & pat were very friendly hosts, the breakfast was really good i tried the white pudding which was a 1st for me xx they gave us a lift into listowel a few times and even picked us up from a night out the room was very clean just home from x keep up the good work xxx
Our family booked the room at the last minute and our host was very helpful and accomodating. We had breakfast in the downstairs restaurant the next morning which we all enjoyed. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We would stay there again if we are back in Listowel.
We know the hotel veey well hut never stayed before.absolutely fabulous, stunning.the staff are exceptional, especially Annie at breakfast, who made sure everything was to our liking, she couldn't do enough for us, a lovely person.
Perfect in-town location — central to everything in Listowel. I enjoyed the meals that I had at the Arms — and the views of the river and the race track are lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Great location in Listowel and really kind and friendly welcome by lovely Arek. Breakfast at Lizzy's was brilliant. Efficient service and better food quality than 5 star hotels in Kerry.
Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, lovely chilled atmosphere. Great location to access other parts of Kerry from Listowel. Close proximity to everything in Listowel also.
Had a brilliant stay at The Apartment at Carriglea. Place was lovely and location was ideal. Only a brief stroll to centre of Listowel. Would highly recommend the place.
A lovely warm welcome, comfy clean room and 100 per cent proper Irish breakfast. Far better than some souless hotel - Aoife makes this a lovely experience
