It's a pretty town and at one end of a walking/cycling Greenway with Athlone at the other end (about 46kms). I could definitely see taking my bike on the train from home to Athlone, biking the Greenway, taking a day or two to visit Mullingar, then the return trip to Athlone and home.

Mullingar is a very lively & musical town - always musical events going on. I was meeting an old friend for carvery lunch in Bloomfield. Although we dined at 12.15, the food was only warm, not hot! Dining situation was in the bar/lounge with beautiful view of lake & very comfortable seating. Serving staff extremely pleasant.
Mullingar is very easy to get around - fairly compact, but own car necessary. Plenty of parking available.
Next time I would demand to view my room before payment to make certain that I was not dumped in a childrens' room! There are other hotels.

I am from Mullingar so can highly recommend it.
I am from Mullingar so can highly recommend it. Lovely shops, bars and restaurants, beautiful scenery and friendly people. Lots to do in the surrounding areas. Easy access to motorways, public transport to Dublin. Close to lovely lakes and stately homes.
Stayed at Keyfield House for the last few days. We were given a warm welcome by Phyllis and appreciated the quiet house as we'd just flown in to Ireland. The room we were provided was just so comfortable and we had beautiful views through all our windows. Enda is a great host, the house feels like a lovely home away from home.
P.S: We enjoyed the beautiful continental breakfast with fresh fruit. Thank you Enda for the wonderful effort.
Room was nice and clean and so was the en suite.
Breakfast the next morning was very good and cooked fresh for us. Better than most hotels. The location was perfect, right in the town center and had enough parking for residents. Was very happy with my stay there.
The location is very convenient to town and to the fleadh cheoil which we stayed for. Has a beautiful walk to town, and hosts were very kind in helping us with transportation. The location is beautiful and you are surrounded by a picturesque Irish countryside.
The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The room has a setup for coffee and tea as well as a small refrigerator. We had the corner room overlooking the roundabout. It was spacious with lots of windows and a good view of the center of town.
At first driving into the property it seems run down but once inside it’s one of the best places I’ve stayed for years , the staff are exceptional , food was excellent, and the hotel was so clean will def return
We stayed at this hotel, 3 times. I don’t think I need to say anymore how nice this place is pretty reasonable on the price. There are other hotels that are more expensive and not so close to the town.
The hotel was lovely really enjoyed my stay. The staff were so nice and friendly. The grounds are lovely too especially sitting at the benches looking down at the lake.
The hotel had an excellent location with car parking all within a short walk to town centre
Comfortable hotel in lovely surroundings
Bedroom was roomy and warm
