Trim has a great castle, used in the filming of Braveheart.
Trim has a great castle, used in the filming of Braveheart. The guided tour of the keep is quite good. There is a friendly family of donkeys in a pasture just down the road from the castle and you are allowed to feed them (a sign with foods that are allowed is in the pasture). Trim is a great base for exploring Bru na Boinne, Mellifont Abbey, the Hill of Tara and other areas of interest. I actually;lly would have stayed 3-4 nights instead of 2, but we had reservations in a different area.

Trim castle is awesome!
Trim castle is awesome! The tour provides historical, anecdotal and architectural context for the structure, and the grounds have detailed markers and schematics to help you understand what you're seeing. We needed more time to explore the grounds, the ruined Abbey, and surrounding areas. Dinner at the Stock House restaurant provided a good steak and interesting decor to explore. Definitely a stop for a day or two on our next trip to Ireland.

We only stayed in Trim one night.
We only stayed in Trim one night. We went to the castle which is in pretty good shape. Entry is free but you can pay for a guided tour of the Keep which you should do.
We ate dinner at the Trim Castle Hotel in the Bailey Brasserie. It is a little expensive but we thought the meal was very good. The host was friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was that our waiter was very busy and not very attentive but this would not keep me from returning.

Came to the hotel for a wedding.
Came to the hotel for a wedding. Lovely scenery of the castle from the rooftop and some rooms. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. My room was nice and had everything I needed and the breakfast was very nice. I paid €190 for 1 night stay in a double room which I thought was too expensive for a Monday night but overall I enjoyed my stay.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The room was lovely. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel, in fact we are already planning to return and take my mother along with us this time.

Trim is a beautiful town, with plenty to interest both adults and children. There are plenty of independent cafes and restaurants, making a lovely change from high streets with global chains.
Lovely walks along the river and around the Norman castle, the focal point of the town.
The whole place was clean, gardens well kept and staff were all helpful and friendly. We had full access to the hotel facilities (we stayed in the holiday homes on site) The kids loved the pool which we visited every day. Trim is an ideal location as there is a huge amount to do within an hours drive from anything in Dublin to Tayto Park, to Newgrange and the Hill of Tara and of course Trim Castle itself. The town of Trim is also very well kept and has a lovely feel to it for just walking around.
Cecilia is a great host and she welcomed us to her beautiful home, made us feel like staying with friends. She gave us a lot of information about the area, had maps ready. The room is very spacious, the bed is actually wide, which is not too common in Ireland, the bathroom has a shower and a bath tube, and is also very spacious. The area is very beautiful and quiet and it is only a short drive to the beautiful town of Trim. We had a great stay with Cecilia and will sure come back.
The location is in Trim which is a nice town, with pleasant walks along the river Boyne.
We found our room to be very comfortable with a good ensuite.
The breakfasts are very good, cereals, yoghurt, croissants, toast, full Irish or in my case vegetarian, hot drinks and juice.
All in all we found our stay pleasant with welcoming hosts and I would definitely recommend Caravogue House to family or friends visiting Co. Meath.
Pam and Morris had a beautiful home, it was exceptional! Everything was spotless. The beds were so comfortable and luxurious. We sat out on the patio after a long day and it was so refreshing. Pam provided every thing you could need, we had water and chocolate on our bedside table. And she prepared a lovely breakfast! Pam and Morris were so warm and welcoming. This is the place to stay if you are in the Trim area!
What a wonderful place to spend our first night in Ireland. Pam welcomed us into her beautiful home, situated in the quiet and peaceful farming countryside outside Trim. Her warm hospitality and personal touches (chocolates on our pillows) made it a perfect place to recover after a long flight. We ended our stay with a delicious farm breakfast and look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
This is a significant, professional golf hotel that doubles as a general visitor hotel. It is very nicely designed and decorated, and it has two large and attractive dining rooms, one formal and one sporty. We only saw the course but didn't play, yet it looked stunning. Food was very good. The spa looked great but was fully booked - need to book ahead of time!
The staff were all so friendly, from reception to the breakfast staff to the guy who pointed us in the direction of the dining room without being asked. Breakfast (served not buffet) was lovely and we were offered more tea, coffee, juice and toast on multiple occasions. The room was spacious and clean. Parking was under the hotel.
Mark behind the bar was a gentleman made myself and 2 brothers feel welcome and home straight away lovely pints of Guinness open fire going on a baltic evening the rooms were also lovely and warm rads on full beds comfy and clean will stay again next time visit Trim for a Wedding
freedom with patio areas, lovely garden location. Excellent towels and comfortable beds. remote location so felt like a holiday however very easy drive to Trim. Room only booking however we were left bread/jam/eggs/milk etc which was a real bonus.
Hotel is a little dated to be honest. I didn't think the spa area was great at all but to be fair the treatment was fantastic. Wasn't impressed with the restaurant at all but The bar that night had music and a good atmosphere.
We arrived very early and it was raining and very cold. Our 2 booked rooms were not ready yet but the lovely lady at reception found us a room to rest in. Castle Arch was the perfect location to explore Trim!
It was a beautiful house, very warm and decorated nicely for Christmas. The bedroom was very ornate with lovely curtains and trimmings and the bathroom was large and very modern.
We weren't able to have the breakfast as we had to leave early. Our room was huge with a separate sitting area.
Our locations offered a view of the Trim Castle out our window.
Very central in trim . We were attending a wedding about 15 mins away from the hotel so it was easy to get back to . Staff were so friendly, couldn’t do enough for us
The location was very close to the city center, Trim Castle and the self guided city tour.
Clean residence, very nice host and close to good restaurants.
