This was a great place to explore the surrounding areas.

This was a great place to explore the surrounding areas. It also has a castle in the area and an association with the film The Quiet Man. It is a friendly town with 2 supermarkets and a number of places to eat.

A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes.

A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes. A few nice shops. Nice place to stay I'd you're traveling around Connemara. It's about and hour to Kylemore Abby as well as to the ferry or airport that gets you to the Aran Islands. Definitely work a stop if you have some time. Powers is a wonderful pub and restaurant.

Good base for touring Connemara and Mayo. No meals in Hotel. We ate our evening meal at pub/restaurant across road from Hotel. I can't remember name but it had a thatched roof and food was excellent.

Lovely setting with nice rooms and good bathroom. Breakfast had good choice and done very well. TV could be an improvement, but not there to watch TV. Eating at the "Powers" was good. Nice town.

It is a small town with a village atmosphere.

It is a small town with a village atmosphere. It's not far from Galway city centre and as hotels can be pricey in the city I would strongly suggest travellers take a look at this as an alternative. The town is filled with pubs and eateries and places to stay. I stayed at the Connemara Lake Hotel, right in the centre of the town and rate it highly. As a solo traveller I found the area friendly and welcoming. There is a small castle nearby which is worth a quick look, but the Glengowla Mines four kilometres away on the road to Clifden is a treat. Really interesting and the scenery out towards the coastal town of Clifden is beautiful. A lovely part of the world.

This b&b was truly great. The house itself was really beautiful, the room was a little small but more than fine for 3 people and all the facilities were perfect and clean. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. And Teresa was truly the kindest and really helpful, always a warm smile at breakfast. Her breakfasts were stunning as well, everything was delicious, especially the pancakes! The house is situated just on the edge of Oughterard, in walking distance of the center with supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.

Breakfast was excellent. Once acclimated the location proved excellent.. A comfortable drive to Kylemore Abbey and Ashford Castle. A nice and affordable golf course nearby and and a beautiful lake for boating and fishing just down the street. Also a boxing club and football club in town. The town of Oughterard had a few nice Pub's and a grocery that was well stocked. Our host Christian was great and his new puppy Emily couldn't be more adorable

The house is close to Oughterard and we found the area to be very quiet and peaceful. The accommodation itself is finished to a very high standard, it is very clean and surprisingly spacious. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking a good meal. Host Eileen was so nice; she included lovely touches such as providing treats, snacks, and breakfast. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a little bit of quiet luxury.

We stayed here for one week as we explored County Galway. The house is centrally located, so it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go within one hour. Mary and Gerry are fantastic hosts and made us feel right at home. Mary gave us great suggestions of things to do and places to eat in the area. Each morning we had a hot breakfast prepared to order. We wanted a local Irish place to stay, and that is exactly what we got!

Beautiful peaceful location, ideal for touring Connemara. A wonderful setting to return to at end of a busy day to that fantastic view out across the lake. A world away from everyday stresses! A real getaway from it all location! House is very well equipped and host is so friendly and available for any advice needed. We will return and this has been our 3rd visit to this charming house.

A place to stay around. Each room has its own seating area to sit out for an evening drink or a light lunch. On the shores of Lough Corrib with boat hire and a paradise for anglers. Lovely people who made me welcome and provided a great breakfast. Only 10 minutes from Oughterard where you will find several good restaurants. A peaceful and relaxing spot.

We enjoyed our stay at Camillaun very much. Deidre and Greg are great hosts - freindly and helpful. Excellent breakfast! The location is very convenient - a pleasant, short walk to Oughterard, which is a lovely little town that's a good jumping off point for exploring Connemara and Galway. House has a fantastic snooker table too!

Great location, close to town and just a walk down the road to some excellent pubs and restaurants. The facilities were nice and breakfast was excellent, although the breakfast room can be a bit chilly in the morning. Not far from Galway if you want to stay close but in a more affordable area. Staff were very helpful.

Everything about our stay at Woodlands was superb. Barbara is a great host; she even managed to get our wet motorcycle gear dry. The house is a short walk from Oughterard with bars and shops, and a good bus service to Galway city. Thoroughly recommended.
