Fahan is a tiny village on the Inishowen peninsula. We stayed there and used it as a base for the scenic drive. Highly recommend driving the Inishowen 100 and going to Malin Head; It exceeded expectations. We ate dinner in the Railway and it was yummy.

Fahan is an ancient and great little village including St Mura's stone cross which dates back to the 6th century.
To vist, there's not a huge amount see or do in Fahan but it's also on the edge of the beautiful Lough Swilly and just down the road from the equally beautiful Lisfannon beach.
The Railway Tavern is a great place to eat as well.
If your not driving, there's a regular bus service from Buncrana, which is the nearest small town to the great little city of Derry.

Fahan is on the beach just outside Buncrana.
Fahan is on the beach just outside Buncrana. You need a car because it’s not near shops but you can walk down to the beach & play in the sea. From Buncrana you can get a ferry over to Rathmullan in the summer. It is a beautiful part of the world
Ideally located for us, sweeping views of beach though see on the wrong side of a busy road. Spacious and comfortable, helpful owners and a real fireplace. A much better option than a hotel. A practical base for visiting Co Donegal.
I booked Sea Vista for the view (the best in Fahan, looking out over the Swilly, Inch and Rathmullan) but the whole experience was top class. John and Linda are lovely and they do a beautiful breakfast! I’ll definitely be back :)
One of our best stays away. Somewhere between a beautiful hotel with the intimacy of a house. Derek made it special and couldn't do enough for us. A beautiful location with a fab restaurant and beach nearby.
