Cork itself does not offer much, but can be a good starting point for the Wild Atlantic Way adventures. IF you are traveling with a car. Traveling by train & public busses does not bring you to the coast etc. The City Gaol is nice to visit, good shopping options including the English market. Skipped the Blarney Castle due to high cost. So next time probably driving with a rental car, but then a stay outside a city is also an option. Very good variety of restaurants.

Great genealogy and family history day was held at the Cork County Archives. Very friendly staff and excellent speakers. I did not know this was an annual event that they held there and I would recommend it to anyone interested in genealogy. It was well attended and I understand it will be repeated next Thursday 18th April such was the demand for seats. I hope to return to the archives for research and to attend their annual family history day.

The city was great.
The city was great. Lots of shops and places to visit nearby. There are many hills so bear in mind if your about travelling. The Old City Goal is up a huge hill so Taxi there and walk back (downhill) Taxis are cheap enough to use but some of them are cheeky with the prices. The weather was good for our stay but remember to take an umbrella as it often rains unexpectedly.

First of all the buses are shocking , waited over an hour at the airport for a bus to cork city and returning found out they only run every hour !!!
But the city is wonderful , every type of shop you would want , lovely walks along the river and the people are so friendly , will definitely be returning!!
I stayed in The Metropole Hotel for vacation. Location is good, everything is very close, though Cork is not that big city. The hotel is very special: it's in the old, historic building but it doesn't look aged. The hall, rooms, furniture are all looking like from the early 20th century but restored to the highest quality. So the hotel gives you a strong 5 stars hotel vibe. It's been a while since I saw such clean rooms in a 4 star hotel. Kudos to the staff.
Amazing Customer Services, they called me before arriving to the property to offer a taxi service to Cork city centre. Every staff member was super friendly and accommodating.
Room was in better conditions than the picture on the webpage, I will super recommend this hotel for any stay in Cork, area was lovely and quiet.
Breakfast was continental + irish, not one or the other, both things. Amazing and delicious.
Beautiful, recently renovated room, on ground floor
Breakfast room overlooks a tranquil river tributary
Freshly made coffee to order for breakfast
Bus from the city centre stops about a minute away
Access to water font and fridge at any time in commons room
Lovely quiet room, even though the B&B is right beside main road
Lionella, very helpful and welcoming. Thanks to all the staff
Located right next to the Cork Airport, the hotel is clean, rooms are spacious and it is quiet! We never heard a plane taking off or landing. The restaurant had very good food. We arrived mid-morning and even though check-in is at 3pm, they had rooms ready for us. If you want to go into Cork City however, it’s about a ten minute cab ride.
The hotel is very well-appointed and, being just outside the city centre of Cork, is less noisy while remaining easily accessible (it is about 12 minutes walk from the rail and ten minutes from the bus station). There is an attached bar/restaurant and attractive patio area. Breakfast is excellent.
The amenities were excellent and the location excellent for easy walks to many historical and cultural sites within Cork City. This was our fifth stay at this hotel. We highly recommend it for those looking for a centrally located hotel with great amenities at a reasonable price.
The cleanliness of the hotel is A1.
The location is good within a short walk of Douglas village and bus ride from there to Cork city centre.
The adjoining Swimming Pool is great for relaxing.
The restaurant is quite good, varied menu and tasty food at a reasonable cost
This hotel is in an ideal location, a few minutes walk from the city centre, The bedrooms are bright and spacious and the choice of food at breakfast time is fantastic. The staff are so helpful and accommodating. The underground carpark is an additional bonus.
A very nice hotel, the reception area is great and the location was very close to the city centre as well as the river for walks towards UCC. A good choice for breakfast, buffet style. I used the pool and jacuzzi, super relaxing.
I had a great stay here for one night. It's a fancy house that's more like a hotel. Nice bedroom with a view over the city, great breakfast, lovely staff. 10 minute walk into the city centre. Would definitely recommend
We liked the location being close to the train station and the bus station. The hotel was cozy, chic, and modern. The breakfast was the BEST we had in our whole stay in Ireland. The waterfall was magical!
Near Cork city centre ( few minutes walking), friendly staff, clean and nicely decorated rooms, breakfast available, available free parking space, outdoor garden (patio) also available
Great hotel and great value for what you get these days (expensive but in the ballpark for cork city)
Hope it stays that way
