I liked everthing about Abbeyleix...that is why I booked a break there in former visits. Staff are exceptional, gracious, friendly, efficient; property is clean and well maintained, with an open fire already glowing for early breakfast !

It was very friendly and informal - and a bit quirky, which we loved. We were given the run of the house and as there was no breakfast included in our rental, I ended up having a great chat with another guest over morning coffee as we explored the kitchen looking for things we needed. Our room was quite grand and the bed was really comfortable. The host did not live on site, but was available and very responsive.

Loved my stay here. Fabulous host who dropped me to the wedding venue on arrival and provided me with a taxi number. Felt like a home from home. Great breakfast too!

Lovely heritage town, well kept with some nice eateries and pubs. Some nice walks to be had. Our stay wasn’t long enough to see everything so we will be back again. We had excellent coffee and scones in the Gallic Kitchen. Next time we look forward to sampling lunches
Beautifully restored 300-year House full of history in the main street of Abbeyleix. A warm welcome from Ross and advice on where to go in the town for food. Our bedroom on the top floor was superb, full of old-world charm. The whole house is a walk back in time. Full kitchen available, and as there are only 5 rooms, it feels like you have the whole house to yourself. Can't wait to stay again.
We loved the atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and nothing was a problem to them and the big warm stove in the foyer was just amazing the bedroom was spotless clean and lovely and warm for our hole duration the hole hotel was spotless Mags the waitress was just a gem I asked her could she make a sandwich for me it was very late a night it was no problem thank you Mags
The staff at the front desk were wonderful. We had a hiccup with the B & B that we had booked, and booked the last 2 rooms at your hotel, and were tired and frustrated when we arrived. The front desk agent (sorry cannot remember her name) was helpful, and when we came back down to ask for fans, she went looking for them herself, and delivered them to our rooms.
Blackhill Woods is situated in a wooded site a few minutes from the lovely town of Abbeyleix. The wooded area is organic .... carefully maintained without disturbing the natural growth very much. Yoga classes take place daily.
Breakfast served to the room is delicious. Simon is a wonderful host, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable but in no way intrusive.
It's quite the experience! The old building, which use to be a school if I remember the hosts decscription correctly, has big old-style rooma and windows, a wonderful communal kitchen with everything you need for breakfast and more (even though it's more like a hotel) and beautiful dramatic dinner / tea rooms where you get to meet the other guests.
A wonderful, small, cozy hotel with its own kitchen and outdoor area. Clean rooms and interior are pleasantly impressive. Special thanks for cleanliness and order in the kitchen! Friendly host and staff. We were in this hotel for the first time, but now we know that we will return there again. Thank you for the atmosphere and an amazing rest!
Loved staying at Preston House. Preston House for me was the perfect refugee only a few blocks away from the beautiful center of Abbeyleix. Ross is an exceptional host, making his guests feel welcome
and at home. The building is stunning.

This is a gorgeous location and the bed, surroundings, and the proprietor are all incredibly inviting and very comfortable and relaxing! This may be the best place I've stayed in all of Ireland and certainly through Booking.com.
The hotel was useful as it was near our family. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The ongoing renovations were kind of a put off (painting in front entry) but the stay was suitable.
Location was great and it was so quiet in the woods- loved it . Breakfast was also brought to the room so it was a winner not having to go to ‘ a hotel restaurant’ type of thing. It was peaceful
Lovely House in a beautiful quiet location but just down the road from Abbeyleix which has amazing places to eat. Only a short stay but definitely recommend. Simon was a lovely host also. 🙏🏼
Room clean and comfortable, the hotel was recently renovated. The hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
I had breakfast at Polly's -the coffee shop is a great asset.
Conveniently located in the middle of the country. Straightforward hotel. Honest staff as we left bag behind us and were able to collect the following day.
