Amazing price and great location. The host John is a wonderful man who has stories for days. Make sure to ask for breakfast, which was the best I had in Ireland. I can’t recommend this place enough and I would stay here again.
With panoramic views of Kerry Mountains, Murphys Farmhouse B&B is set on a working dry stock farm. The property is 5 minutes’ walk from Boolteens village and within 0.6 mi of Castlemaine village.

Bernadette greeted us with a smile and spent time with us describing what we could do in the area. The rooms were large and beautiful. It was also quiet.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the River Brown Flesk, Woodlands House is the closest B&B to Kerry Airport and offers a free shuttle service.
I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s).
I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s). However, please note that this is all in a small hamlet called Boolteens, which is about 3 miles from Castlemaine, so you don't need to visit the latter!

I noticed the host had dried out another family's coats for them (yes, it was raining!). She was very welcoming.
The B & B was all you would hope for, and to top it, the restaurant/bar next door was great for food and relaxing in. (And, there's another bar over the road for Sky sports if you want to bet on a horse!)
Castlemaine has a statue of The Wild Colonial Boy.

We visited Tralee a few times and we were delighted with the places we ate. We had a lovely meal in both La Scala and Yummy. We also went to Camp, Castlegregory and visited The Maharees. We found our way home through the Connor Pass. The views were breath taking.

This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland.
This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland. Willie can't be matched for his knowledge of Ireland and hilarious stories. He is the epitome of a gracious Irishman and host. Our stay at Castlemaine was a great experience. People everywhere we went in the area were very friendly and helpful. Nearby Cobn was colorful and interesting. Dinner in the Commodore Hotel bar was delicious. More places to visit than we could squeeze in with two days.

Castlemaine is only a very small village but it has a couple of pubs in the village and two more at only a short distance away - all have food available. There is petrol available just outside the village.
It is ideally situated for access to the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, yet just off the beaten track so you can feel relaxed coming back in the evening. It doesn't have big tourist pubs etc etc and is a quiet village.
If you are looking to relax after a busy day sightseeing it's perfect.
If you are looking for a busy centre with shops, touristy type stuff, music and entertainment until the early hours, you need to try Dingle.
We stayed two days in Alderwood house with my partner and it was a wonderful experience. We were in our own private wing in the house with a big bedroom, a bathroom and a separate livingroom with free netflix! Tim prepared us an amazing breakfast and he even brought us cookies prepared by his daughter in the evening. He helped us with anything we needed (indications, the plug adaptator I forgot...). I would definetly recomend this B&B over any hotel or other B&B in the zone.
Murphy's farmhouse is a cosy bnb located about 30mins or so out of Killlarney town, with a lovely view up the mountains. Within walking distance are a couple of pubs and a 5min drive some more options in Castlemaine. The bnb was quite busy during our stay but we still enjoyed peace & quiet which was lovely. A great breakfast, both continental and cooked was provided and was very nice. The hosts were very friendly during our encounters and we enjoyed our stay! Thanks.
I liked pretty much everything. From the view, the garden, the horses that Mr. Jimmy was breeding. But if there one thing I loved about this hotel , it was the kindness that Mr. Jimmy and his wife Mrs. Bernadette.
They were absolutely kind to us. They really cared about our stay. They cared how we were planning the holiday.
I remember how Mr. jimmy came to us voluntarily to talk with us. To be sure that we are enjoying our stay.
Thank you for hospitality. We loved it .
A great base to explore the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney or Tralee. The breakfast is fab cooked by Tim who is an amazing host who goes the extra mile for his guests. He brought me a honey and lemon drink to help soothe a persistent cough. We were in the Mountain suite which has a separate sitting area with a TV and a wide selection of books. Tim had also provided a bottle of wine and some sparkling water in the fridge. I highly recommend a stay at Alderwood House.
Very beautiful and spacious home with a very friendly and helpful family. The house is located very close to the Ring of Kerry and Dingle as well as only a ~20 minute drive from the Inch beach. Mountain view from the room windows and located in a very quiet and peaceful place.
We've absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to do it again in the future. For any dog lovers you might even get a chance to pet the lovely family dog too.
Would highly recommend.
My stay at the Anvil B&B was excellent. The staff were great and Liz helped us out in getting a booking at the Southern Hotel for Afternoon Tea at the last minute which was a surprise for my sister's 60th birthday. We had a great time at the Southern and we very much appreciated Liz's help in getting us the reservation. I highly recommend the Anvil great place to stay for your touring around the Ring of Kerry and Dingle area.
Super hard working and friendly staff. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in Ireland! Our bed was made up with freshly air-dried and ironed sheets; what a treat! House is old and creaky (300 years old!), with lots of history and a nice sitting room on the main floor. We met and chatted with other guests at the inn, which was nice.
comfortable and great location for visiting Dingle and Kerry. best staff that made us feel like home. they even gave us great tips about visiting dingle, Kerry and driving up to the cliffs of Moher, and even taught us some Irish and about the Irish culture. highly recommend booking! one of our favorite parts of visiting Ireland.
quiet area to relax. perfect location to do Dingle Pass and Ring of Kerry. Hosts was very accommodating. made fresh brown bread which was left for us at check in. Made tarts fresh and again gave us a couple. Very accommodating! Would book again next time we are in Ireland!
Absolutely lovely B&B and hosts, the room was big, clean and comfortable, everything looked good and the hosts were so charming and very helpful!
We plan to go back and stay more when we travel again in Ireland!
Lovely garden also:) amazing breakfast and a very good coffee
Treated like you were staying at a 5-star! Staff very attentive, friendly and accomadating. Breakfast was abundant and fantastic. Dinner was great. Parking was on-site and free. I would stay at the Anvil again vs. anywhere I stayed traveling for 5 weeks around Ireland!
We were surprised at how good the location was as we thought it would be more remote.
It was a great location for exploring the Dingle Peninsula and North Kerry.
There was plenty to do and see in the area for all the family.
Excellent place, spotless, very well equipped, comfortable , great location for exploring Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. Superb communication from hosts. Easy checkin and out. Looking forward to returning
A really comfortable house. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer. Private car parking/garden, ideal for evening BBQ! Great location for touring both Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry.
John welcomed us and showed us our room, accommodating. He suggested a great place for dinner and we had a great time in a pub that night. Parking was adequate, we didn't have breakfast.
Host was lovely and welcoming. While Castlemaine is a quiet town being so close to Dingle, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry is a big plus if you are travelling by car.
