Breakfast was quite good. The room itself was also nice, had a great shower. The staff were friendly and responsive and the location made it convenient to get in and out of Inichcore. The free parking was also appreciated
[UPDATE] I had also reached out to Dunboyne after my experience to report my experience to them directly to hopefully make sure my experience below would be avoided in the future. I didnt really expect a response but the day after Mirek from Dunboyne rang me. They explained exactly what the situation had been, as described by the electric company as a one in a million error that caused the loss of power. They apologized for the lost night and kindly offered me a coupon for a nights free stay usable at any time in the next 12 months. The informative response was very much appreciated and further enforces my good view of the staff of the hotel. I look forward to posting another, more positive review after my next stay and have also bumped up the scores on this one for the timely and informative response

When we arrived at the property the instructions to get into the place weren't clear or apparent. I called the owner. He was quite rude told me to walk around the back of the property and then hung up the call. When we did get in the room in its self was substandard with old, damaged and marked furniture. The apartment was overall fusty smelling and dirty. We followed the instructions for the internet. It did not work, so neither did any of the channels on the TV as it was smart. All of which were included in the list of facilities offered when booking the apartment. When I called the owner about this, his attitude was condescending and intimidating. He told me that I shouldn't be complaining as all of the said issues were fine with previous and current clients. I explained that I wasn't complaining but asking for advice. Again he hung up on me. When we went to shower there was no hot water.
There is nothing near to the apartment either. The city is 19 kilometres away.
When we finally got to bed there was banging and shouting from the adjoined apartment into the earlier hours.
The following morning my husband and I decided to leave. It was not fit for purpose. I emailed the owner explaining this and requested a refund for the night that we weren't staying. I also told him about us making a video of the apartment to show the unacceptable standard of the apartment. Also that we had asked a neighbour to witness this to verify that we had not created this. He refused. Sending me the following email

The whole experience was very upsetting and stressful.
We did book into a hotel.
I would advise anyone considering to stay here to give it a wide birth.

Cleanliness of the room and facilities were excellent.
Cleanliness of the room and facilities were excellent. The staff were very friendly. Our room was nice and quiet. We were easily able to walk into Dunboyne which is a delightful little town. We had diner one evening at Shivens (I think that was what it was called), the food was great. They had live music and the singers was amazing. We will definitely go again.

MY WIFE AND I BOOKED TWO NIGHTS AT DUBLIN DUNBOTNE CASTLE...
MY WIFE AND I BOOKED TWO NIGHTS AT DUBLIN DUNBOTNE CASTLE GUEST-SUPER KING ENSUITE BUT WE WERE ALLOCATED 'A DOUBLE ROOM' WITH SHARED TOILET AND BATHROOM INSTEAD OF SUPER KING ENSUITE. WE PAID EURO 256.50 FOR THE SMALL ROOM THAT WE WERE SQUASHED IN THE TWO OF US. WE ASKED BOOKING.COM TO CONTACT THE OWNER ABOUT THE WRONG ROOM GIVEN BUT WE WERE TOLD HE WAS VERY RUDE, VERY UNPROFFESIONAL, VERY UNHELPFUL AND NOT WILLING TO GIVE A REFUND OR EVEN OFFER COMPENSATION FOR THEIR ERROR. THE PLACE IS A BLOCK OF FLATS WHERE THE ROOMS WERE MADE INTO BOOKING ROOMS. IF YOU DONT DRIVE THE PLACE IF A BIT FAR FROM THE SHOPS TO WALK EVERYDAY. ITS NOT VALUE FOR MONEY. IF YOU EAT FOOD AND EVEN BUY FRUITS YOU HAVE TO WASH THEM AND HANDS AND COFFEE MUGS IN THE SHARED TOILET AND BATHROOM WHICH WAS VERY DISGUSTING DURING COVID 19.
THEY MUST CALL IT STUDENTS BOOKING ROOMS NOT DUBLIN DUNBOYNE CASTLE GUEST-SUPER KING ENSUITE. ITS TOO TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE PRICE AND TOO SMALL THE ROOM 3 WE STAYED IN. WE WERE VERY UNHAPPY AND FELT CHEATED OF OUR EURO 256.50 FOR TWO NIGHTS. WE STILL DEMAND OUR FULL REFUND !!!
THIS SPOILED OUR STAY IN DUNBOYNE A VERY BEAUTIFUL CITY.
This room is a spare room in someone’s apartment and is not affiliated with the hotel in any way. I was trying to book a room in dunboyne castle hotel and somehow I booked this property while on the booking.com page for the dunboyne castle hotel and spa. Nothing wrong with the room itself but it’s deceiving how it happened. If I wanted to book a place like this I’d have used air b’n’b and not booking.com.
To be honest thought I had booked a guesthouse belonging to dunboyne castle hotel. When we got there we only stayed about 5 minutes before booking a hotel instead. Weird smell in bathroom. Ugly room, weird to share a bathroom with two other rooms. Thank god I booked this when it was on offer for 66 euro because if you’re paying 150 euro you might aswell book a room in the actual dunboyne castle hotel.
The food in both the Ivy and Terrace bar is superb. Highly recommend using the Seoid Spa and having a few treatments especially the body scrub and Anti-stress massage. Rooms are very clean, comfortable and have a bath and separate shower cubicle. Nice quality toiletries. The staff are absolutely exceptional and will make you feel totally pampered and cared for. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Great facilities in general, hotel was clean throughout. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. Had dinner in the bar and it was tasty. The lunch and snacks provided for the conference I was attending were great.
My bedroom was spacious, very clean and quiet. Bed was comfy and I had a great sleep.
Once we informed the hotel reception staff about our treatment from staff at the spa they couldn't have been more helpful and sent 2 bottles of prosecco to our room. The terrace bar staff were so friendly and food and cocktails were lovely. Room was airy and comfortable.
Family stayed while my son attended the NAC, road works made the journey longer than anticipated, but other than that no issues. The breakfast was very good, and the setting is quieter and more relaxing than other hotels we've used in the area in the past.
Lovely hotel. Location and surroundings fab. Staff friendly and helpful but we stayed when just out of lockdown and things in the kitchen seemed a bit all over the place. The food (when arrived) was nice and I would recommend this hotel
I was looking for a hotel close to the airport and this stay was pretty close so that was good. check in was contactless and the host provided fast WiFi and instant coffee, water, and a couple granola bars. the bed was also comfy.
Our room was amaxing the staff were very helpful and so good to use. All over tge hotel was 100% to our standards the food is excellent and very reasonable prices. We hope to make our visits more regularly
The price was low but this reflects the misleading nature of the advertisement. BUYER BEWARE - this is not Dunboyne Castle and is a converted house with shared facilities.
Friendly staff. comfortable and spacious room. Decent buffet breakfast refreshed regularly. within walking distance of Dunboyne. well served by local taxis.
