The castle was lovely and the heritage center was a lot of fun and very informative, there are some lovely restaurants, we ate in the old barracks food was delicious and we got some lovely cakes to take away. We stayed in the Raheen woods which is a very family friendly hotel. Athenry has a train station and is only a fifteen minutes trip to Galway city

I loved everything about the place only thing that needs looking at is the bar menu
I had the chicken burger I asked was the chicken fresh
I was so looking forward to fresh chicken breast burger
Especially for the price I would expect fresh not frozen

The staff in all areas of the hotel were exceptional, warm and friendly, helpful and efficient. Best hotel experience we've had in a long time and we are avid travellers. The hotel was immaculate,
modern with a warm welcoming feel. Food was excellent. Family friendly with plenty of activities onsite and locally and just a stones throw from Galway city .

We had a nice time here .
We had a nice time here .
The heritage centre is worth a visit. For 5 euro you get to go on a tour and learn lots of the history of Athenry in a fun and interesting way ,you get to wear costumes and you get to do archery and a maze. Such a lovely experience. There's also a castle and an Abbey to visit . Great playground for children.
The food in the restaurants and pubs was just gorgeous. The people were friendly and nice.
Definitely will return again.

Athenry was a wonderful little town to visit.
Athenry was a wonderful little town to visit. Great to get a feel for authentic, non-touristic Irish culture. The town boasts a castle, a friary ruin, an old stone gate, so many gems to visit! Then the nightlife was very fun. Great pubs and music made for one our favorite stops during our 10 day trip to Ireland
Wanted a spot near Shannon airport to make for an easy travel day (50 minutes by car). Rooms are small but lots of storage. Facility has a nice outdoor space for drinks or food that is private but there is smoking allowed there so you never know what you'll get. Their parking lot is also enclosed in that spot so easy to get to. There are not a lot of restaurants in Athenry and the food served here was really quite good and that's a top option for you. Breakfast was very good and included.
The hotel is in the centre of town which is small with a busy one way system. Book in is in the restaurant and then you go across the road to the accommodation. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable with a good shower. A nice touch in having small cakes for guests in the rooms. There is tea / coffee making and wardrobe space in the rooms. The restaurant had good, reasonably priced meal choices and breakfast was very good. Staff were welcoming and friendly.
Loved the hotel, the staff were excellent, the food was good, we had several meals including breakfast. The leisure facilities excellent - nice pool, jacuzzi & sauna. Lovely garden & spacious parking. The guest rooms are spacious, with french-doors to an outdoor patio/balcony. If we are in the Athenry area again, we will stay At Raheen Woods Hotel. Overall, very well run & comfortable.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless, spacious and the food was delicious. It was a great base for our mini stay with the kids. The kids received free ice cream and colouring pencils on arrival. The waitress/bar staff were very nice. The kids LOVED the facilities including the play area Kardio Kids. Such a novelty right in the hotel for them.
This hotel is a gem! Alacoque (the owner) is absolutely lovely. So friendly and chatty. She gave us great information about Athenry and we really enjoyed doing the heritage trail that she recommended. The cooked breakfast was fantastic! Love the outdoor dining area too. Highly recommend this hotel and Athenry is a lovely town full of history. Shouldn’t be missed.
The location of the hotel was very good. Bright, tidy and clean reception area. Bedroom was very clean also. We had actually arranged to meet with the General Manger the following day at 1pm to discuss having our wedding reception in the hotel. Their wedding brochure was in our bedroom for us on our arrival which was great.
The food was amazing , the hotel was georgeous and so comfy , the staff were extremely friendly and helpful , my kids got ice cream when they arrived and on leaving , we had a lovely time , a fantastic hotel , it was our first time there , we will definitely be back , it’s very child friendly too.
One bedroom flat was just beautiful. Super comfortable pull out couch in the living room was perfect for our daughter. Place is absolutely spotless and very well appointed. Will stay here again if ever back in Athenry.
The town is quiet and away from too many tourists, yet close enough to Galway and a great stopping point to see a lovely town. The breakfast was beyond amazing! Friendly staff. Hope to stay there again!
Beautiful quaint hotel. Lovely reception rooms for sitting to chat/read. Staff were great - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast were just beautiful. Lots to eat.
Beautiful inn located central in a medieval castle town. We enjoyed salad and pizza for dinner and the breakfast was outstanding. Best cappuccino in Ireland!
