This was a great place to explore the surrounding areas.

This was a great place to explore the surrounding areas. It also has a castle in the area and an association with the film The Quiet Man. It is a friendly town with 2 supermarkets and a number of places to eat.

A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes.

A cute small town with nice restaurants and cafes. A few nice shops. Nice place to stay I'd you're traveling around Connemara. It's about and hour to Kylemore Abby as well as to the ferry or airport that gets you to the Aran Islands. Definitely work a stop if you have some time. Powers is a wonderful pub and restaurant.

Good base for touring Connemara and Mayo. No meals in Hotel. We ate our evening meal at pub/restaurant across road from Hotel. I can't remember name but it had a thatched roof and food was excellent.

Lovely setting with nice rooms and good bathroom. Breakfast had good choice and done very well. TV could be an improvement, but not there to watch TV. Eating at the "Powers" was good. Nice town.

It is a small town with a village atmosphere.

It is a small town with a village atmosphere. It's not far from Galway city centre and as hotels can be pricey in the city I would strongly suggest travellers take a look at this as an alternative. The town is filled with pubs and eateries and places to stay. I stayed at the Connemara Lake Hotel, right in the centre of the town and rate it highly. As a solo traveller I found the area friendly and welcoming. There is a small castle nearby which is worth a quick look, but the Glengowla Mines four kilometres away on the road to Clifden is a treat. Really interesting and the scenery out towards the coastal town of Clifden is beautiful. A lovely part of the world.

We were doing s tour of Ireland and as it was a Saturday all the hotels in the area were full so we booked the guest house. I think the lady who ran the guest house was called Patricia, she was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable of amenities in the area. The guest house is situated just outside a lovely little town with a great thatched pub called Powers which served superb food. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area. By the way my husband said it wss the best Urush breakfast we had during the holiday

Breakfast was excellent. Once acclimated the location proved excellent.. A comfortable drive to Kylemore Abbey and Ashford Castle. A nice and affordable golf course nearby and and a beautiful lake for boating and fishing just down the street. Also a boxing club and football club in town. The town of Oughterard had a few nice Pub's and a grocery that was well stocked. Our host Christian was great and his new puppy Emily couldn't be more adorable

We stayed here for one week as we explored County Galway. The house is centrally located, so it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go within one hour. Mary and Gerry are fantastic hosts and made us feel right at home. Mary gave us great suggestions of things to do and places to eat in the area. Each morning we had a hot breakfast prepared to order. We wanted a local Irish place to stay, and that is exactly what we got!

Beautiful peaceful location, ideal for touring Connemara. A wonderful setting to return to at end of a busy day to that fantastic view out across the lake. A world away from everyday stresses! A real getaway from it all location! House is very well equipped and host is so friendly and available for any advice needed. We will return and this has been our 3rd visit to this charming house.

For those who are not looking for the atmosphere of a common and standard hotel chain, but the typical Irish charm, this is an ideal place. Location was great. Des was very friendly and helpful, and put us at ease straight away. Great facilities for the independent traveller with a kitchen to cook meals and plenty of space. It was a shame we were only staying one night. If we had more time it would be a terrific base to spend some days exploring Connemara. Oughterard is also a very cute and charming town.

We usually stay in hotels but this self contained apartment was far better by a mile. Louise our host even left us bread, butter and milk. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Immaculately clean. Only a 15 minute walk to Oughterard Village where you can find shops and restaurants. 5 minute drive to Oughterard Golf Club. A must stay if you are in the area!!

We enjoyed our stay at Camillaun very much. Deidre and Greg are great hosts - freindly and helpful. Excellent breakfast! The location is very convenient - a pleasant, short walk to Oughterard, which is a lovely little town that's a good jumping off point for exploring Connemara and Galway. Gerry and Mary were fantastic hosts. The location was in excellent proximity to Galway, and the Conemara area and within walking distance to Oughterard for some nice pubs and food. The breakfast was great and the place was quiet, and the beds were comfy. I would DEFINITELY stay here again, and hope to someday soon.

The hostess was delightful. Breakfast was excellent; plus it was an actual home-made breakfast. The area around the hotel is residential and nice to walk through. Plus the village next door was an excellent surprise: if it hadn't been for this hotel we wouldn't have stopped in Oughterard.
