Set in a period building, Townsend House Guest House offers hearty breakfasts and cosy rooms with free Wi-Fi. The house is situated in Birr centre, just a 5-minute walk from Birr Castle.

The bright and airy bedrooms each have a seating area and a work desk. Rooms also feature tea/coffee facilities and a private bathroom, and some rooms overlook the leafy gardens.

Our stay at Townsend House was wonderful! The room was beautiful- we stayed in the family suite which was spacious and very comfortable. The location was just perfect for exploring the small village of Birr- walking distance to the castle and town center. The staff were welcoming and the breakfast was delicious (and huge!). We were so happy with this stay and would definitely recommend it.

The Ring Farmhouse was just perfect for myself, my wife and son. Quiet and private, but close to town. The hosts were friendly and very pleasant and helpful. The room was spotless and the home-cooked breakfast was top notch. We were visiting from the States and felt very at home at The Ring. We’d definitely return!

This B&B is in a great location in Birr center. It is a beautiful old town house, and has a very homely feel to it. We were welcomed by a lovely, friendly lady called Maureen. She very kindly drove us to the hotel where we were meeting friends. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was warm and clean. We didn,t have a cooked breakfast, but there was lovely fresh fruit and homemade muffins, cereal and yoghurts. I would return to this B&B and would recommend it.

Excellent breakfast, the porridge and cooked breakfast on offer was exceptionally good, and the atmosphere of the dining room was calm and relaxed. The ambience and Georgian architecture was a delightful contrast to the usual impersonal modern hotel, and we enjoyed browsing in the emporium. The electrics in the bedroom were quaint and the TV was too small for the suite of the room, but these are minor issues.

A lovely quaint wee place to stay and very clean. Great location beside the castle and I was lucky to have great weather which meant I could spend the night walking through the town and taking pics of local interest like the castle and water falls
