We were delighted with our stay. Our host, Seamus ensured that my daughter and I were comfortable. It was lovely to wake up in our room and hear the sound of the sea, the sounds of the cockerel and ducks, the smell of a turf fire and to stand on the bed and look out over the sea. We took a walk the evening before onto the beach behind and had a picnic tea there.

Host was very accommodating allowed us to wash our wetsuits outside with the garden hose. She also had recommendations for site seeing, local history, and restaurants that included directions.

Historical village (cathedral, round tower) and a great base for exploring the area. Ross Strand beach is only a few minutes drive away. Lovely offroad walk around village (follow greenway signs) and can follow road back towards village and down to the quay. Only 10 minutes from Ballina which has big selection of shops and supermarkets if you need to stock up.

Killala is a quiet but beautiful village with easy (10 mins by car) access to Ballina which has full shopping facilities etc. Having said that the village itself has everything you need with a pub which serves great food, a small Centra supermarket, a sweet shop & a fantastic cafe (On the Way Cafe) with scones to die for! A car is a must as there are some lovely spots nearby. Kilcummin Beach (15 mins by car) is a stunning deserted beach for a long walk or a boogie board or surfing session. Enniscrone beach is 30 mins away by car & again is a stunning beach to walk or have a surf lesson on (surf boards for hire too). There are plenty of beautiful walks near Killala. Part of the Atlantic Way can be accessed from Killala village or visit the woods at Beleek Castle or further afield enjoy a short river walk
in picturesque Easky or the stunning Aughris Head cliff walk. Make sure you visit the Downpatrick sea stack - a gem. Although an hour away by car, Mountain bikers will enjoy the trails at Union Wood.
The Acres was just opening for B & B business and it was an advantage to be able to eat indoors at the adjoining restaurant/bar.
The bar and hotel staff were very friendly and a pleasure to talk to.
Peter was a font of local knowledge and he gave me good suggestions and directions for places to visit on our onward journey.
The dinner and breakfast were good. Our rooms were comfortable, and the building had history and character.
Good village to walk around.
Had a really lovely stay at the Secret Garden with our 3 small kids. The house had everything we needed and more. The hosts even went out of their way to leave treats for the kids and beautiful baby toiletries for our 8 month old. A real home away from home. Location was also good, just a 2 minute drive to Killala to restaurants and shops and Ross Beach close by also. Would definitely recommend.
Nice place for stay for few nights when you travel. Clean and cozy room with tv, spacious shower room, not very modern, but spotless and with shower gel sets. Delicious Irish breakfast and good strong coffee was served. Really excellent place to stay in Killala. Car park was full and we had to leave the car on the street, but town is very quiet and we feel save to do it.
Beautiful little cottage. The bed was amazing, so comfortable and the heated blankets were an added bit of luxury. The shower was fab.
Very well appointed, had everything you could want or need. The position of the cottage was perfect. Just by the water and a very short walk up in to Killala where there are a few nice pubs, a shop and a cafe.
A trip to Killala is like stepping back in time, hand made kitchen in the cottage, endless supply of turf, the immersion, friendly owners. Local businesses very friendly.
Cottage was well socked with all the little necessities, washing liquid, towels, tea and coffee, milk and brown bread.
The house was close to Killala town and the room had a large double bed and an excellent en-suite bathroom.
just one item for prospective visitors to note is that there is nowhere in Killala to get breakfast on a Monday so a short journey to Ballina is necessary.
Lovely townhouse in the village of Killala. The house was spotlessly clean and spacious downstairs. Everything we needed was pretty much there. Lovely host, Lorraine, so helpful. Will deffo be back 😁
