We really can't say enough good things about this house. Literally located in the centre of Oldcastle, close to everything you want to see in this hidden gem of a town. The house itself is modern, spotless, with everything you need. We cooked our dinner in the brand new kitchen, which has a coffee machine as well. The living room area has a TV with Netflix, YouTube etc, and the most comfortable sofa you can imagine. The bedroom was pure luxury, and the bathroom had products you'd be happy to find in a really good hotel. Basically this house is like a really nice hotel room, except it's a whole house. Can't wait to go back soon. 👏😀

Lovely cottage right beside the beach. Quiet area, well furnished, plenty of room for family with 2 kids. Warm and cozy on those rainy Irish seaside days ☺️

We had 6 adults and 2 young children, and the house was spacious and comfortable for all of us. Our grandson loved the toys! Peter, the owner, was wonderful. He personally welcomed us, answered our questions, and suggested a great place for dinner- Cross Guns. When we mistakenly went over our time the next morning, he was gracious and gave us a little more time to leave. It was a pleasure to meet him!

This was a lovely comfortable clean lodge with everything needed. Very cosy a christmassey with a little tree up which we loved. The host Peter was a gentleman and helped us out big time to get us to a wedding as no taxi was available. We were greeted by Patch the dog on arrival she was the best!

Connells Barn is everything it looks - a smart conversion from a historic building into a most pleasant base for exploring the Boyne Valley and beyond. The host is wonderful and she has thought of everything - the place comes with a manual, and you are well advised to run trough it upon your arrival - it is very informative. The other pleasantries you can find are just too numerous to count, from a welcome package ont the table, to a filing cabinet filled with assorted destinations and activities. Karla (the host) definitely sets the bar high for other hosts. The location is easy to find. It is near too many interesting sites for the time we had, so a lot is left unexplored, but it just gives us a reason to return.

Location of this beautiful property is ideal for sightseeing around the Boyle Valley and the wider area. Information from host Karla made it so easy to visit areas of interest during our two day visit. The appearance of the house, the garden, the inside, all had the wow factor. The cleanliness, the decor, the space and comfort made our stay so enjoyable. The history of restoring Connell’s House was very interesting and the end result was amazing.

The host was great, she greeted us on arrival and made sure the property was warm. She showed us where everything was and how to work the heating and wood burner. She left us some milk in the fridge and there were the basic items in the cupboard like tea, coffee and sugar.
