A historic Victorian house with a self-catering kitchen, a guest sitting room and a courtyard, The Valley House Hostel & Bar also offers free WiFi and free on-site parking. Located in Achill Island, 10 km from Achill Sound and 8 km from Keel. I travelled down on a motorbike through some epic rainfall and arrived to roaring real fires in the lobby, dining room and sitting room which transformed my mood entirely (and allowed me to dry some of my gear!) After a great dinner in the on site dining room i moved into the pub. There was a great mixture of locals and guests and whilst there was no live music on that night it didnt stop the punters from singing into the wee small hours!

Lovely warm house in a great location. Catherine was quick to get back to any messages and also had some delicious homemade scones for our arrival with a few other essential groceries! Would highly recommend and hope to be back again this year 😊

Great location, the hosts were amazing, the picked us up from the pub and dropped us back off at the bus - as we had walked from newport-, so they were more than happy to help make our stay as enjoyable as possible! The breakfast was delicious, catered for vegetarians aswell as the normal breakfast! Couldn’t have a bad word to say!

Great location at Achill sound. Plenty of parking. Bus to westport and other stops on Achill 2 mins walk away. Property is spotless. Really nice jolly guy Alex looks after you if you need anything. Had a great comfortable nights sleep both nights. Cosy pub 1 minutes walk away. Perfect.

The hostel room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We had a few pints and a delicious meal in the bar while we listened to a great trad session. The staff were friendly and helpful, despite how busy they were. The grounds were well kept and we went for an early morning walk and swim nearby before checking out.
