We loved the Church of St.

We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

It was a very friendly town, with many pubs, cafe's and restaurants. Sean's Bar had a very good live music duo. We ate at The Fatted Cow, which served excellant food in a professional and friendly atmosphere. The town itself was easy to get around with good transport links to other towns and cities. It was a good place to be based at.

The location and privacy of the room was more than adequate for the time that I had spent in the room. The location was similar to where I had stayed in the last time that I had been in Athlone, and is very central to the town. While my standards for walkability are wildly different than most people's (I wouldn't decline a walking trip to Roscommon, for example), I felt like the town as a whole had a very accessible vibe and the location of this hotel was very conducive to that ideal.

I had contacted reservations for a stay and was told there was no corporate rate available and that there was only one room left and given rack rate. I was unable to book this and when I happened to look for another place in Athlone I came across on booking. com five rooms available at a lower rate. I was annoyed by this as I am aware that the hotel has oversight on this. Lady on reception was excellent and ensured I had the same consecutive room for both nights.

This is my 2nd time to stay here, and I always enjoy staying here. There are always plenty of spaces in the car park upon arrival. The checking in process is simple. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The large TV in each room also has loads of TV channels to view. The staff are very polite and courteous, and it definitely beats other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. I will always stay here, whenever I am in Athlone.

Nice hotel property with lovely grounds. When we booked we left a note that we were celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary on this vacation. We found a card in our room with a box of chocolates that really made our day. We ate dinner at the hotel's bistro, and were blown away by the five-star taste, presentation and nice portions. Great full Irish breakfast. Highly recommended!

Location is convenient for whether you use public or private transportation. Cooked breakfast could be better but just my opinion. Wonderful selection otherwise with plenty of other options and service professional by irish standards (formal). Best beds in ireland. Friendly staff.

The hotel is located right in the center of the town and within walking distance to many things. The breakfast (food, staff and room) is excellent. The only disappointment is that there is no fridge or microwave in what is supposed to be a suite.
